iPhone Photography School
Hello, I wanted to share with you an update on my work with the iPhone Photography school.
MASTER TEACHER
In April 2016 I was asked by the iPhonePhotography School to become one of their three long-term "Master Teachers." It means that every three months, I produce 6 short instructional videos for their students. I also spend several hours that month consulting students on their photography, critiquing photos and answering questions. I also select the top 50 photos to be featured. It is an honor to work as an employee with the iPhonePhootgraphy School. I have worked with them for over a year now and they have always been very professional, organized and committed. I personally enjoy making these videos because I end up learning a lot myself! I also love all of the people I meet. There's so much energy and excitement!
Recently, they released one of my Master Class videos!

An Interview with iPhone Photography School:
They interviewed me! Before I started writing for them, they took the time to do a profile about my work.
A WEBINAR:
The iPhonePhotography School held a conference on June 6th, 2015. I spoke (live) during this event. I gave a 45 minute talk about editing and then took questions afterwards for an hour. You can click here to read more about it.
What a great few weeks!
Hello!
If you look at my family from a distance, you'd probably think we have been fairly miserable. Two of us just wrapped up having strep throat, the other two had bad colds, my husband has had a lot of business travel, and the weather has been pretty darn dreary and cold.
However... it has been a couple of really great weeks! It seems when you're having fun and plodding along you don't seem to notice those "set-backs" as much as you might! After the strep throat battle ended, we resumed going on lots of outdoor activities. Arlo and I are in a "mom and me" downhill ski class. We have visited the aquarium and the art museum. We went to a play called "Fancy Nancy!" We went to the library. We have had play dates and dinner dates and all sorts of fun. January is not so bad!
And here are some more professional-ish updates:
I have been working hard on learning Photoshop and I have been enjoying playing around with it! I am taking a class by Joel Robison that I just love.

I won the grand prize and a new drone from a photo contest on http://www.dronestagr.am/ It is so cool and it has a "FPV" controller that blows my mind! It is almost like a virtual reality way to fly it! I will certainly post more on that later!

I also received Honorable Mention in the People category of the Mobile Photography Awards! It is a gigantic honor! http://mobilephotoawards.com/people-winner-honorable-mentions-6th-annual-mpa/
This week I also met with the heads of Marketing at two local malls: Southdale Center and Galleria Edina to discuss two really big future projects with Art of Edina! We have some really great programs coming up!
And finally this is the first weekend of the Art Shanty Projects! I am so honored to be working as their official photographer again this year! I can't wait to see what they come up with this year. I have a date with a friend to head out there on Saturday.
Hope you are well and finding ways to have fun this time of year!

A New Medium

Last month I was hired to do a shoot for a wonderful woman. She was cheerful and bright eyed and exciting.

She encouraged me to be creative with her photos. She was a true honor to work with. And she was fun!

But the most exciting part: she is a psychic medium!
In addition to her full time job, she does readings for people. She can sense the presence of someone who has passed on. Learning her stories was an incredible experience.

She mentioned that she would soon be flying down south to help locate a missing person! And she also told about being in touch with someone who had passed away in a crash near her cabin. It didn't feel spooky or weird when she spoke about it. It felt real.

She truly is beautiful inside and out. Thank you Randalyn for trusting me to do your photos. I wish you much success.

Editing Again
Now that the boys are in school, I have a bit of time to play with my photos again! I've really missed sitting down and letting my imagination dictate the scene.
Tonight I turned this
