Exploring South Dakota on the Ultimate Family Road Trip

We were invited by the South Dakota Tourism Department and Travel Mindset to go on the ultimate family road trip in South Dakota.

It was an amazing experience that we will forever cherish!

 
 

The Trip:

  • 6 days long.
  • 1400 miles round trip.
  • Accommodations: State Park cabins and a resort
  • An action-packed itinerary that included horse-back riding, fishing with a guide, a hot air balloon ride, a buffalo safari, hiking and more!

Instagram

During our adventure, I posted daily on my Instagram feed as well as to the South Dakota Tourism feed. Viewers got to virtually come along for the ride in real time! It was so fun to read their suggestions and feel their enthusiasm as we traveled.

Facebook

I shared several posts to my Shine On Photos page as well as my personal page, mostly driving traffic to my blog where readers could experience our trip with us!

 South Dakota Tourism also used their Facebook to drive traffic to the blog.

Blogs

For this trip there was a lot of activity, and therefore a lot to cover. I blogged nearly every day so that viewers could read details, view a larger quantity of photos, laugh at our silly travel stories and travel along with us!

Selects

After the trip I provided the client with a curated collection of high resolution, fully edited images. The client is using the images for future advertising, social promotions and more.  


Partners

Many partners were involved in this trip. The horseback riding company, the hot air balloon company, resorts, lodges, restaurants, safari services, parks department and more.

During our trip, I made sure that each partner was highlighted in various mediums such as my blogs, Instagram, Facebook, etc. 

In return, the majority of partners shared the content we created... driving even more traffic to my "story." It truly was a win-win. 

Finally, several large channels including REI featured some of my photos, exponentially growing our audience even further. I also did an interview about the trip in Hayo Magazine.
